12 Tags of 2013- July!!

hello everyone!! so this months tag is very patriotic! I loved the idea of putting crackle under the distress stain! I think the final effect looked really cool! and the brayer technique was just pure genius and I have already used it on some of my other projects!

so this is my tag and I thought the final effect turned out pretty cool!

the first thing I did was to die cut the old glory die and paint it with rock candy crackle paint

then I used barn door and salty ocean distress stain with a brayer and rolled it on the tag just like Tim did to his tag

then I went around the edges with vintage photo and walnut stain distress ink. this is what it looked like at this stage

then I used the same distress stain over the flag and stars then its all about embellishments and finishing touches and your done! to glue on the stars and the flag I used foam dots.

12 Tags of 2013- June!!

Hello everyone! the year is already almost halfway gone! I cant believe how fast 2013 is flying by! and this months tag of the month is up and that means I've been crafting! Here's what I came up with this tag! I know mine doesn't look exactly like Tim's, but it goes more with my personality and the things that I like:)

I did not take a lot of pictures of the making of this but I can show you a few:)

I started with a piece of watercolor paper and a stamped image of the dragonfly blueprint stamp

Then I used Tim's techniques to color the dragonfly in.. except instead of using a water-brush, I used a wet paintbrush because I don't have a water-brush.

Then, I created my Tag background using distress stain colors in, broken china, peeled paint, and spiced marmalade. and a distress ink color in picked raspberry. and I went around the edges in Peacock feathers! then I just used a word stamp to add words to the background.

then I just embellished! here's some extra pictures of the finished result!

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this months tag from me! if you liked it leave a comment because I love to hear from you guys!

I've had this blog for almost a year.. getting closer to a year.. but a long time ago getting one page view per day made me smile and now, seeing the page views I have... it makes me smile even bigger:) my self esteem in everything I do has went up:) so thank you guys sooo much for everything!

Envelope Mini-Book

Hello everyone! today I'm going to teach you how to make a mini book out of just 4 envelopes:)
I made this mini book for my mom for mothers day but you could create one for a "just- cause occasion."

The first thing you do is you score the envelopes. I did 5 1/2 inches over. do this to every envelope.

the next step is to glue the envelopes together. i used liquid cement for this job and it did a very good job holding together.

You want to glue the smaller sides together for the first one, then when you add the next page you will glue the two bigger sides together, so when you close the envelopes, it turns into a mini-book.

because this is a envelope, there's going to to be a lot of pockets to add tags and stuff. i just added scrapbooking paper and glued the little flap to one side, but making sure theres still room to make it a pocket.

here's the other pages I did at this point

its a short mini book, buts its all the room I needed. I chose to have mine flipping up and down but you could always have flip left to right. I normally don't scrapbook with pictures, I more of a mixed media artist, but when given pictures I can cook up a pretty good scrapbook:)

from this point on all you need is to add your pictures and embellishments. I but pictures of me and my mom when I was a kid. when I gave her this book she cried. ha-ha parents.

I put tags in the little pockets that matched the color theme of the particular page they went on

Just little embellishments here and there really make anything you create

I used my Cricut to cut out little letters a glue them on in a crooked pattern

Flowers give Character to everything ha-ha

So I hope if your stuck in a artistic rut this helped you with some kind of inspiration to get back up on your crafting feet and start creating again!

If someone you know if getting ready to have a Baby, and you need a good gift, check out my other blog, I have a new post on how to make a baby diaper cake! ( shown below )

Swirly Tag!

Hello everyone! okay, so i know on everyblog post i write, i mention the name " Tim Holtz" now to clear somthing up haha i know it sounds like im actully OBSESSED with him haha. but im not, no i just grab soo much inspriation from his project's and use his products because they are just so fantastic!

This tag im entering on the simon says stamp blog. i'll probably be creating another project from them as well but i though this was a perfect tag to enter.

ive been busy the last few days creating a few new tags to share with all of you. i recently purchased the sizzix bigkick which is my first die cut maching and im loving it because i can now used the embossing folders and the tim holtz bigz dies which i love everyone of them and cannot wait to start collecting. i have purchased the caged bird and tattered floral bigz dies. i love them soo much;) cant wait to start creating with them. For this tag i tried out the set of embossing folders i bought which are the ones with the overlapping circles ( which i use here )

I used dylusions inks to create the background then i used black soot distressing ink to tone down the color then i embossed it.

i sanded the embossed surface down a little bit to look more distressed then i just added some embellishments

Thanks for reading:) make your day a good one:)

12 Tags of 2013 -May

Hello everyone! I was so happy when I saw the new tag tim did. It was rainbow colored and I really love fun colors like he used! heres the tag i created:)

in person, it looks alot more colorful but i really enjoyed creating this tag and ill show you how i did it

I started with 3 distress stains ( peeled paint, broken china and spiced marmalade) and one distress ink ( picked rasberry)

I did the usual and put the colors on my craft sheet in a cool pattern and dipped my tag in the wet ink and created a very colorful background. I then took a little vintage photo distress ink and a ink blending tool and a used that around the edges to darken it a little

lastly for the background i used peacock feathers areound the edges and stamped a white floral image in the bottom right corner

I really loved this background i though it was so interesting! next i got to try out a new product; the remenent rubs. i love these soooo much! i will definatley repurchase these! they look gorgeous on the tag! i got a little carried away, but i made that mistake into somthing better than it wound have been!

next to make the focal point i used the back of a tag i didnt like and i used vintage photo around the edges stamped the 3 man stamp ( haha i dont know what its called ) and just added some embellishments to finish off the tag

Color Tag

I knew as soon as I opened the simon says stamp website and read the title, i knew i had to make a tag for it. the challenge was "color" and i can say that color is my favorite thing in crafting! so i decided to take it literally and make a rainbow background tag. here it is in full.

To get the Colorful Background, I used Dylusions spray Inks in Bubblegum pink, Lemon Zest and Vibrant Turquoise

then i used the new distress paint in picket fence to add a very subtle layering in the background. lastly for the background, i stamped little lacey cirlce's in vintage photo distress ink in 2 different sizes to make it interesting.

then, i just shuffled through my box of things and found some different embellishments that i thought looked ok haha. i used alot of 7 gypsies things and some tim holtz idea-ology things and just like that it was done!

I'd say is a little different from my normal look, but no matter how funky it looks, it still has character and looks cool!

Thank you so much! I will be entering this tag on the Simon Says Stamp blog.

12 Tags of 2012-April

Hello Everyone! Its hard to believe its almost the end of april! time is literally flying! So this month i decided to try out alot of new products i had purchased and can i just say i LOVED them all! i tried out the Liquid Pearls and the new distress paint! Awesome products! i hope you enjoy my tag of april!

to make the background, i used Dusty Concord, Peacock Feathers, and Squeezed Lemonade
i stamped a damask pattern in white distress paint  overtop of my background. then its time to embellish. i stamped a butterfly and colored it in to match the background. then i used tims technique to make the 3D wings with the plastic then to heat it up and shape it. but i covered mine in line patterns using a glue pen and the Distress rock candy glitter.

I used liquid pearls to add dots all around the tag where it need an extra "somthing". i poured glitter into a bottle to kinda look like " love dust" haha I thought it looked cute:) i just added a few more embellishments here and there and Done!

Thank you soo much for reading!! it means sooo much!! Im gonna start blogging more i promise, ive just been having somthing like "writers block" or "artists block"

Thank You:)
